Abstract: Cheirolophus crassifolius is a chasmophytic shrub that is a narrow endemic for Malta and is listed among the top 50 plants in the Mediterranean by the IUCN. Its population is facing severe fragmentation and threats from various anthropic factors. Despite its ecological significance, there is no clear statistical phytosociological classification of this species in the existing literature. This study aims to fill this gap by formally classifying the phytocoenoses dominated by C. crassifolius. [excerpt]
