Abstract: Further to an article penned by the Faculty of Education dean Sandro Caruana (The Sunday Times of Malta, March 6) on the MTL course that will open this coming October for those interested in pursuing a career in teaching, we would like to share a few thoughts about mentoring, which is at the heart of the initial teacher education programme. In the past years there have been attempts by the Faculty of Education to introduce some form of school-based mentoring as part of initial teacher education (ITE).
