| Abstract: | Narration is an intrinsic form of human communication. Even what we term a pure concept may assume the form of a story which seems to be told. In organizing knowledge into a formula which must include a subject, a verb, an object, subordination, coordination, we fulfill a need and execute an inevitable choice. It is our way of expressing our inner self; on the other hand it enables us to give a particular shape to our expression, that is to identify in ourselves a reaction to the outer world. Subjectivity creeps in even in the case of an intentionally objective exercies. We see "things", that is while "things" exist in themselves, they are automatically recreated in our sensibility. What we normally call style is a way of putting things together, giving shape to the inner state of flux. That is why literature, apart from being an art, corresponds in various ways to inborn tendencies. |
