Abstract: A competent pharmaceutical workforce contributes to improved health outcomes through responsible medicines use and optimising effective choice and use. 1 Pharmacy students in their final year of studies are required to complete an ‘Advanced Community Pharmacy Practice Experiential’ module consisting of continuous (24 weeks) direct patient professional practice in a community pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist. The experiential practice is supported by reflective sessions led by pharmacist tutors. At the end of the experiential, a checklist is used to confirm attainment of professional competencies. The aim was to optimise the competency evaluation process of final year pharmacy students.
