| Abstract: | There are various established social welfare functions used in practice. Suppose that a group of people is asked to rank policies A, B and C, in a decreasing order of preference. There are six possible ways of ranking A, B and C, namely, [A>B>C], [A>C>B], [B>C>A], [B>A>C], [C>A>B] or [C>B>A]. A social welfare function is a function which takes as input the preferences of all the members and returns as output an aggregated ranking of the alternatives. |
