Abstract: Through an interdisciplinary lens, the humanistic and social sciences have recently undergone a transformative shift known as the ‘affective turn.’ This emerging trend, exemplified in the recent publication The Affective Turn: Theorising the Social, amongst others, not only marks a departure from traditional modes of study but also presents a fresh and intriguing perspective on human experiences. The main agenda here is to show how humans can affect and be affected by the world around them. Some of these essays employ fieldwork to investigate affectivity, whilst others use different kinds of academic discourses: from microbiology to information sciences, from politics to ethics, from film studies to philosophy of technology, as well as from experiences of trauma to war and migration issues.
