Abstract: Auxetics are systems which get fatter when stretched and thinner when compressed i.e. they exhibit a negative Poisson’s ratio. In most cases, this counter-intuitive behaviour may be attributed to a particular geometry and the way this geometry deforms when submitted to a stress.
