Abstract: This study examined the inclusion and support of individuals with hearing loss in the workplace, highlighting the experiences, challenges, and perceptions of Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) employees, employers, and relevant support agencies. Using a qualitative approach, the researcher collected data from interviews with all three groups to gain a comprehensive understanding of how inclusion is practised and experienced in real workplace environments. Findings indicate that although many employers are dedicated to inclusivity, a lack of awareness, training, and clear guidance often restricts the effective implementation of accommodations. Support agencies provide specialised assistance aligned with their specific missions, ensuring employees receive the diverse support needed to succeed. Deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) employees reported varied experiences: some describe positive, supportive workplaces where they have equal access to opportunities for growth and advancement; others, particularly those with more limited communication abilities, face persistent challenges related to communication, stigma, and restricted prospects, both within their current roles and when seeking new employment. Some employees shared positive experiences, noting that they were treated equitably by their colleagues and fully supported by managers, contributing to a strong sense of belonging at work. The study concluded that meaningful inclusion requires a collaborative, multi-level approach beyond mere policy compliance to foster a truly accessible and supportive work environment.
