| Abstract: | In Naples, the clever servant Leporello nicknamed the “new Figaro” entangles himself in the affairs of his master, the Prussian Baron Sigismondo, and the Baron’s daughter Amalia, who secretly loves a young Frenchman, Andrea. Through schemes, disguises, and comic misunderstandings involving Andrea, Amalia, and the modista Carlotta, Leporello manipulates events until the lovers’ union is finally secured. [Excerpt.] |
