| Abstract: | Gabriella married Fayel at the urging of her father and the news of the death of Raoul, the man she truly loves, upon his return from the Crusades. She discovers too late that she has been deceived and that Raoul is alive. Raoul returns and accuses her of perfidy. Meanwhile, he is pressured by the emperor to marry Fayel's sister, Almeide.
