| Abstract: | The love between Imogene and Gualtiero is thwarted by Duke Ernesto di Caldora, a supporter of Charles I of Anjou, who imprisons Imogene's father to force her to marry him. In forced exile, unaware of Imogene and Ernesto's wedding and the birth of their firstborn, Gualtiero organizes a team of Aragonese pirates and begins a series of raids along the Sicilian coast, intending to return to his homeland and marry Imogene.
