Abstract: The goal of Intellectual Output 2 of the UPSKILLS project is to compile and publish a collection of best practices, documenting the steps needed for integrating ongoing research into teaching; not only academic research but also research done in industry. Since one of the main aims of the UPSKILLS project is to prepare students from language-related study subjects for the job market and several such students will inevitably find jobs in the language industry, the introduction of research projects that are coming from it in upskilled curricula is an important part of our overall vision. This report describes the efforts made to integrate industry-based research into teaching. We present challenges and opportunities from both the perspective of industry and academia, possible formats, the steps we took to implement industry-based research in teaching in the framework of UPSKILLS, and describe successes and challenges we encountered along the way.
