Abstract: This study examines holistic therapy in the rehabilitation of individuals struggling with substance abuse. As the prevalence of addiction continues to rise, there is an increasing need for comprehensive approaches that address the multifaceted nature of recovery. This study explores the efficacy, safety, and integration of holistic therapies alongside conventional treatments within the Maltese context. Through qualitative research involving interviews with therapeutic professionals, key themes emerged regarding the benefits of holistic practices, including their capacity to foster emotional well-being, enhance coping mechanisms, and address underlying trauma. The findings reveal that holistic therapy not only complements traditional rehabilitation methods but also provides a pathway toward sustainable recovery by promoting a mind-body connection. Participants highlighted the significance of tailored treatment plans that consider individual needs, as well as the necessity for policy changes to enhance the recognition and integration of holistic therapies in mainstream healthcare. This study advocates for a more inclusive addictive behaviour rehabilitation system that embraces diverse therapeutic modalities, ultimately contributing to a more effective and compassionate approach to recovery. This research aims to connect conventional and holistic approaches, encouraging further exploration and adoption of integrative health strategies to promote a healthier future in Malta.
