| Abstract: | This research project aims to develop an interactive online platform that employs a digital learning strategy concerning the influence of the Roman period in Malta. It aims to encourage young students to learn and construct knowledge by associating previously acquired knowledge with newly acquired information in an enjoyable and interactive way. John Dewey’s experiential learning theory serves as the foundation of the digital learning strategy explored in this project. The study is set to explore a set of ancient Roman artefacts through an ethnographic approach. The didactic aspects of the project target mostly primary and early secondary education. For this reason, I have looked at the National Curriculum when designing the online platform. Maltese culture is a melange of different cultures including Roman. By drawing on objects from the Roman period young people may explore and engage with aspects that have shaped our culture and knowledge of the past and the present. The interactive online platform is not intended to replace the physical museum but rather to act as an extension to it. |
