Abstract: Aim: Stereotypical asexual portrayal of women with intellectual disability (ID) has repercussions that affect their health, including beliefs that breast cancer screening is unnecessary for these women. The United Nations Convention for the Rights of persons with disability (UNCPD) advocates for the right of specific health services targeting early identification and intervention. This study investigates the awareness and knowledge women with ID, their parents and related services have about breast cancer and screening, and aims to promote the need for national policies and practise to include women with ID.
