Abstract: Train-the-Trainers in hand hygiene (TTT) is a standardized 3-day curriculum developed by the University of Geneva Hospitals, a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)[1] to promote uptake of the WHO multimodal hand hygiene improvement strategy. It’s effectiveness has been reported across multiple countries;[1,2] however prior African delivery was limited to South Africa, with no documented implementations in low-income countries (LICs).[1,2] In December 2023, TTT was first delivered in Uganda. We evaluated (i) changes in participants’ hand hygiene knowledge immediately after TTT and (ii) changes in their facilities’ hand hygiene promotion capacity using the WHO Hand Hygiene Self-Assessment Framework (HHSAF).
