Abstract: A new species of Vitrinella Adams, 1850 (family Vitrinellidae) is described from a site on the Peloponnese peninsula of southern Greece, based on shells collected from bioclastic detritus. This constitutes the first record of the genus Vitrinella in the Mediterranean Sea. The new species, Vitrinella talayi n. sp., is characterized by its small depressed turbiniform shell with a deep and wide umbilicus bearing two distinct keels. Its discovery site suggests it is non-native.
