| Abstract: | The complex genre of abstract art takes various inspirations from the human mind in its creation. Nonetheless, a foundational set of artistic elements inhibits every visual art form, which can be used to point out understanding within this versatile art field. This project utilises these elements to explore and articulate the thought process behind abstract art within the personal context of the researcher’s creative expression. The researcher mainly uses traditional art media over digital ones, due to research values and the preference of tangible media but still introduces the aspect of digital experimentation in exploring compositional planning and ideas. These media are applied through experimental works that aim to decipher different queries proposed in academic research and deliver a better understanding of the researcher’s artistic working process. Psychological links between the mind and artistic decisions are revealed through this process and help to innovate future artistic work. This fresh perspective informs the researcher’s decisions in representing personal narratives through a series of mixed-media artworks that aim to engage the viewer in subjective interpretation. |
