Abstract: The design of a character is based on three different things. The storyline of the story, the characters’ personalities and the world in which they inhabit. The overall composition of the character helps to direct the narrative and simultaneously immerse the reader into said character's past. All characters go through a form of development, whether that is shown through their clothing or simply based in their mind; there is always some form of evidence that this character has transformed into something new. That is the basis of my project. To design a character and build the things around them to get people to understand and investigate what has happened to them. By analysing different characters from different forms of media who have gone through a physical change, we can gain an insight into what may cause a person to change and to what extent that change can occur. Other than understanding what can cause a character in a story to change, one must understand what kind of trauma would cause the change and how a person can confront that trauma. Within this project the self-designed character shall possess characteristics and personality traits of my own, as I become the test subject for facing my own trauma and dealing with it head-on.
