Abstract: This article presents Fort St Angelo as a central symbol of Maltese history, tracing its continuous use from the medieval period through the Knights of St John and the British era, and highlighting its military, maritime, religious, architectural, and cultural roles. It also criticises decades of neglect and argues for urgent restoration as a matter of national heritage and European responsibility.
