Abstract: This chapter addresses the selection of the most promising Industrial Symbiosis (IS) opportunities by outlining key criteria and evaluation methods. Criteria include resource and technological compatibility, geographical considerations, environmental impact, economic viability, and regulatory compliance. It discusses the evaluation of techno-feasibility/viability through frameworks, indexing benefits (e.g., economic, environmental, and social indicators), environmental issues, and challenging scenarios (e.g., in water management and agroindustry). Additionally, it introduces the concept of symbiosis readiness level to assess preparedness for IS implementation. (Note: The full report lacks a formal standalone abstract for the chapter; this is derived from the chapter's introduction and summary content. The overall report abstract emphasizes providing an overview of identifying, evaluating, establishing technical synergies, and selecting potential IS cases, along with IS examples from LIAISE COST Action members.)
