| Abstract: | John Bathurst Thomson was born on 22 September 1813. He enlisted to serve in the 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot on 11 January 1839 as an assistant surgeon, and was promoted to the rank of surgeon on 3 September 1846. From 1847-51, the regiment was stationed in Malta. |
