Abstract: Amara Lakhous (b. 1970, Algiers) is an Algerian author, philosopher, and cultural anthropologist. After completing a degree in philosophy and working as a radio journalist in Algeria, he lived in exile in Rome (1995–2014), where he worked as a translator, interpreter, and journalist for Adnkronos. He earned a PhD in cultural anthropology in 2008 and moved to New York in 2014, where he has held guest professorships at various US universities.
