Abstract: This reference framework presents a systematic and (partially) hierarchised set of descriptors for the competences and resources (knowledge, attitudes, and skills) that can be developed through pluralistic approaches to languages and cultures. It forms the core of the FREPA/CARAP project and is designed to support teachers, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, and educational leaders in implementing approaches that link several languages and cultures (intercultural, awakening to languages, intercom prehension of related languages, and integrated didactic approaches). The descriptors aim to foster plurilingual and pluricultural competence by promoting synergy among languages, de-compartmentalising language learning, and contributing to Council of Europe goals in language education policy.
