Abstract: This article reviews a study by Davide Basaldella on the language of Maltese notarial documents written between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, examining the transition from Chancery Sicilian to Italian in legal and administrative records. It highlights the linguistic features of these texts, including spelling, vocabulary and syntax, and discusses their importance for understanding the historical development of language in Malta.
