| Abstract: | The article traces the origins, evolution, and milestones of the Gozo Public Library and its archives. Beginning with the establishment of early private reading rooms (gabinetti) in response to 19th-century intellectual deficiencies, it covers the founding of Gozo's reading room in 1838–1839, its transition to a government-backed public library in 1853, subsequent relocations, the split between lending and research functions, and the eventual inauguration of the National Archives Gozo Section in 1989. |
