| Abstract: | The article details the 1760–1761 "Corona Ottomana" incident, in which 71 Christian slaves led by Peter Zelalić mutinied aboard a major Ottoman warship, seized control, and sailed her to Malta. It chronicles the ship's renaming to San Salvatore, the defensive preparations undertaken by Grand Master Pinto in anticipation of Ottoman retaliation, and the diplomatic intervention of King Louis XV of France, who negotiated buying the vessel to return it to Sultan Mustapha III to preserve French commercial interests in the Levant. |
