| Abstract: | Aging societies have an extended need for transportation solutions that enhance elderly’s independence. However, the solutions needed are as manifold as the elderly's lifestyles are. This study uses User centred Design principles as a structuring tool to manage this complexity of requirements. By not just focusing on specific functionalities but also reflecting product life cycle and usage context, new types of requirements can be revealed. Through a case study, this article shows how a participatory design approach can lead to integrated solutions that better fit the user's needs. |
