Abstract: Background: Ferritin is a key biomarker of iron storage and significant in the assessment and monitoring of iron deficiency and iron therapy. While laboratory testing is accurate and patient accessible on the national health service, it is resource-intensive and associated with turnaround times that may delay management decisions. Pharmacist-led point-of-care testing (POCT) in community pharmacy could enable timely assessment, improve access to monitoring and strengthen pharmacists' contribution to patient-centric care. The aim of the study was to develop and validate a pharmacist-led framework for ferritin POCT in community pharmacy. Objectives included the identification and validation of in-vitro diagnostic test systems.
