Abstract: This article presents a strategic research agenda investigating the influence, development, and dissemination of Italian culture, language, and literature in Malta during the rule of the Knights of St. John (1530–1798). Joseph Eynaud outlines a systematic framework for cataloging and analyzing archival documents, theatrical works, and literary exchanges that elevated Tuscan Italian to Malta’s official language of culture and administration. By identifying primary sources and key historiographical gaps, the study establishes a roadmap for future interdisciplinary research into Italo-Maltese intellectual and cultural relations throughout the Hospitaller period.
