Abstract: | Charter drawn up in favour of the 'leprosis Sancti Lazari de Jerusalem' dated 1106-1116. |
Description: | Transcribed in: Piéces Justificatives [doc. no. 2] in Gautier de Sibert. Histoire des Ordres Royaux, Hospitaliers-Militaires de Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel et de Saint-Lazare de Jérusalem. Imprimerie Royale, Paris, 1772, p.ii-iii. Transcribed in: Charles Savona-Ventura. The Order of Saint Lazarus in the Holy Land. Grand Priory of the Maltese Islands - MHOSLJ, Malta, 2011 Gautier de Sibert assumes that the HENRICUS referred to in this document is King Henry I of England - Duke of Normandy 1106, King of England 1100-1135. However, in spite of his many legitimate and illegitimate sons, Henry I did not have a son named "Galfredo". His daughter Matilda did however marry Galfredo son of Fulk of Anjou in 1128. The document may however date to King Henry II of England - Duke of Normandy 1150, King of England 1154-1189 who did have a son named Galfredo b.1158 d.1186. Tower of London Cartography: Antiq. Fasc. A. No.84. |
