Abstract: Integrins are the primary receptors used by cells to interact with extracellular matrix. Both ECM and integrins play an important part in the survival, proliferation and death of cells. When an injury occurs in lung epithelial cells signals through the integrins could significantly effect whether disease or repair occur.
