Abstract: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also called ampulla cardiomyopathy or stress-induced cardiomyopathy, was originally described in Japan in 1991 by Dote et al., but has now been reported worldwide. It is characterized by transient apical ballooning in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease. We report a case, which was associated with hypothyroidism. To our knowledge, this has not been previously reported.
