Abstract: Recent developments made by the University of Malta group on materials and structures exhibiting anomalous thermo-mechanical behaviour including negative and/or zero Poisson’s ratio, negative thermal expansion and/or negative compressibility are presented and discussed. These developments include the development of new and/or improved models for cellular structures such as auxetic foams and the development and/or discovery of systems and materials which exhibit negative compressibility.
