Abstract: The devotion towards Our Lady of the Rosary has always been present in Vittoriosa. Through records it can be traced back up to 1540. During this period, a Spanish doctor residing in Malta by the name of Francesco Iniques built a chapel within the church and bequethed a painting dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. According to the acts of the notary Guglielmo Briffa, in 1580, Bernardino Iniques, Francesco's son, left the chapel to the Confraternity of the Rosary. This Confraternity has a rich history and throughout the years has been an important part of the Vittoriosa society. Moreover, it took upon itself to always take part in religious and liturgical celebrations together with taking care of their chapel within the Church of the Annunciation in Vittoriosa.
