Abstract: This article deals with the examination of the case for beatification and canonisation of Fr Avertan Fenech by the diocesan inquiry. Fr Fenech, born Luigj, was a Carmelite friar who devoted his life to prayer and sacrifice. Born in Mosta in 1871, he entered the Carmelite Order in 1888 in the Valletta Priory. His first years as a priest were spent in the Balluta Priory, and in 1896 he was chosen to be formator of students at the priory. His students regarded him as a model of Carmelite spirituality. He passed away in 1943.
