Abstract: The aim of this report is to carry out the above mentioned three aspects in relation to maritime ex-voto paintings that highlight the maritime and historic links between Sicily and Malta. For the purpose of this exercise the maritime area surrounding Sicily, including the islands such as Stramboli in the Aeolian archipelago, Favignana in the Egadi archipelago, and Panelleria, Lampedusa and Linosa in the south, together with the Gulf of Taranto, has been considered as a contingent sphere of Sicilian influence. Ex-voti relating incidents happening in these parts have therefore been included.
