Abstract

The'Malta Table Tennis Association should be warmly congratulated on achieving such an outstanding success in this second year of its existence. Despite varied difficulties two new competitions -the Ladies Singles and the Mens Doubles - were introduced for the first time in Malta. Also the number of competitors indicates a marked improvement on previous years. This year's finals were held in the spacious ballroom of the Hotel Phoenicia kindly favoured by the Management. The numerous enthusiastic crow,d was entertained to first class table-tennis from the top ranking players of the Island. It is doubtful whether a better venue could· have been chosen for such an important occasion. The wooden floor, which affords a good foot-grip for the quick movement of the players, and the ample room both for players and spectators are some of the advantages other halls do not provide.
