Abstract: In this article I intend to give an idea of the present state of music in Malta. I regret to ,have to start on a sad note. The foundation stone of the new Opera House after the modified project of Zavellani-Rossi of Milan, was to have been laid by H.R.H. Prince Philip in mid-March, 1955. However, owing to the outstanding liabilities of the War Damage Fund, the Hon. Prime Minister Dom. Mintoff stated that the project would be postponed, although he, personally was not against the plan. More time, he said, was required for reflection.
