Abstract: The Crucifix which hangs in the chapel of the Holy Cross at Ta' Ġiezu Church in Valletta has been hailed for the last three hundred years as prodigeous and miraculous. Its acquisition deed, recorded in a notorial act kept at the Provincial Friary's Archives, is signed by Notary Giovanni Dos and dated 9 September 1742. It is stated in this deed that the information was collected from sources believed to have been close to the times and circumstances in which the Crucifix had been made. It is also signed by Francesco Romeo, the then Procurator of the Confraternita del S.S. Crocifisso.
