Abstract: I thought I might spend the ten minutes allotted to me to give you some up to the minute information on the question of a United Nations International Family Year. I am sure you will be interested to know that a draft resolution of this question has been tabled at the present session of the General Assembly in New York. The draft resolution is dated 31st October, just a few days ago. The Assembly will take action on the resolution immediately following conclusion of its debate on drug issues in a week or so. Let me read a few pertinent paragraphs of the draft resolution as it now stands, and then say a few words by way of explanation, both regarding how we have got to where we are now and how we expect to proceed from here.
