| Abstract: | Though Malta is not a leading country in the production of alcoholic beverages, it "is a wine and beer producing country and alcohol drinking is socially and traditionally acceptable" (Baldacchino, 1991). Although figures on per capital consumption rates, alcohol production an distribution have never been published, availability of alcoholic beverages is relatively high and approximately 2.5 million litres of alcoholic beverages are imported for local use annually (Central Office of Statistics, 1980-1988). A study of the epidemiology of alcoholism and the attitudes of the pharmacists and doctors was evaluated. |
