| Abstract: | On 15 January 1747 the Assemblea of the Chaplains of the Conventual Church of StJohn presented Grand Master Emanuel Pinto de Fonseca (1746-73) with a magnificent portrait of himself painted by Antoine Favray. It cost 50 gold zecchini and was given to the Grand Master in gratitude for his personal interest in the Conventual Chaplains' strife to acquire more privileges from the Sagra Congregazione dei Riti in Rome. |
