Greenhouse gases

Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to give an overview of the greenhouse gases and their impact on the climate that affect human health and the environment. In the introduction, the definition explains exactly what greenhouse gases are. It also mentions them individually and explains in brief their presence and activity in the atmosphere.

By showing the impact that these gases have on the climate, one can observe the power that these gases have and what effect they can cause. It is also discussed the effects that these gases have on the atmosphere. The health impacts that the climate change has especially the rise in temperature which affect human beings are highlighted in the literature review. This dissertation can also be a means of comparison between the situation present in the United States and the situation present in Europe including Malta. By collecting studies from the United States and Europe particularly Malta, one can see the difference between one continent and the other and can also compare different regions in Europe. In this dissertation it could also be observed the changes in temperature and the rainfall pattern in the Maltese islands over a period of forty years.

The sources and emissions are discussed and subdivided in what is natural and anthropogenic. A means of comparison could be made between the two types of emissions. The consequences and recommendations are also included. They indicate various ways how to prevent illness linked to climate change. By mentioning the consequences one can observe the influence that the change in climate linked to greenhouse gases has on the health of individuals.
