Abstract: The criticism of the A.S.A. which had been levelled against this ruling body in 1936 was repeated in 1937, and as a result of the Association's questionable handling of the three cases involving players Flask, Dowling and Portelli, the A.S.A. President resigned and his place was taken by that Olympic Committee stalwart, P. Giorgio. 1937 proved to be a difficult year for the St. Julian's C.A.S.C because the club could not take part in water polo competitions hampered as it was by the absence of no less than eight of its leading swimmers due to various reasons. Then, when St. Julian's became involved in the Portelli double registration case, the club withdrew from all competitions. That was a real pity because in 1936 St. Julian's had realized a wonderful record, playing no less than 42 matches, winning all and drawing only two.
