| Abstract: | Never did the people of Gozo struggle so hard as when they worked heart and soul for the dismemberment of their island from the Diocese of Malta. This dream had become an obsession with them, until Pope Pius IX gratified their wish on 22nd September, r864, by means of the Apostolic Bull "Singulari Amore". This article recounts the journey and struggle of how the island of Gozo became its own diocese. |
