Abstract: A poster presentation regarding pharmacological management of hypertension in diabetic patients. Introduction: The 2007 ‘Guidelines for the Management of Arterial Hypertension’ and ‘Guidelines on diabetes, pre-diabetes and cardiovascular diseases’ issued by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC) recommend angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARBs) as first line treatment for hypertension in patients with diabetes mellitus. Aim: The aim of this audit was to determine whether first line pharmacological management of hypertension in diabetic patients at the Diabetes and Endocrine Centre, Mater Dei Hospital (MDH) in Malta is in accordance with European guidelines.
