| Abstract: | The main aim of my dissertation is to provide a critical edition of the Te Deum by Giuseppe Vella (1827-1912). The score of the work will be accompanied by information on the composer, a brief overview of sacred music of the period, and a brief analysis of the composition itself. Chapter 1 comprises a brief biography of Giuseppe Vella. In Chapter 2, I will discuss the sacred music environment in Malta during the nineteenth century. Chapter 3 contains a critical edition of the Te Deum. Chapter 4 contains a concise analysis of the Te Deum. Chapter 5 is the Conclusion, followed by the Appendices and the Bibliography. |
