Abstract: First could I thank you, as a visitor and now as a resident, to sit at this distinguished table. But above all, I would like to thank you for the opportunity of allowing the youngest of the professions at the table, Social work to be represented here. Social work is becoming a part of the life of Malta and, I think, sitting here tonight confirms ours tanding as a part of the growth, of the development of the profession in Malta. I sat wondering what my contribution would be then. I read a paper of Prof. O'Connell in which he says, "There seems to be a growing consensus that the gap between nature studies scientifically and life lived naturally must be bridged". This is I reasoned a purpose for my being here.
