Abstract: This article deals with the restoration and conservation project of a 17th-century crucifix which hangs in the Franciscan church of St Mary of Jesus (Ta' ─áiezu) in Valletta. The crucifix, made by Sicilian sculptor Fr Innocenzo da Petralia is believed to be miraculous. It suffered several damages over the years, attributed to the environmental factors. A symposium about Petralia and the crucifix, conducted by Giuseppe Fazio, a lecturer at the Accademia Delle Belle Arti in Palermo, was held on March 22 2019.
