Abstract: This article deals with the restoration and conservation project of a 17th-century crucifix which hangs in the Franciscan church of St Mary of Jesus (Ta' Ġiezu) in Valletta. The crucifix, made by Sicilian sculptor Fr Innocenzo da Petralia is believed to be miraculous. It suffered several damages over the years, attributed to the environmental factors. A symposium about Petralia and the crucifix, conducted by Giuseppe Fazio, a lecturer at the Accademia Delle Belle Arti in Palermo, was held on March 22 2019.
